Read about two alumni who have gone on to exciting industry roles:

fra_male_logo_portrait_colourGrace Hilley, L4 Fashion Retail with Marketing and Business

Current role: Online Production Assistant – Miss Selfridge

“I joined the FRA knowing full well that I wanted to work in fashion, I just wasn’t sure where I wanted to specialise my skills yet. The Level 4 Fashion Retail course was perfect. It covered everything I was interested in, including: business, marketing, public relations and digital. It gave me a real insight in to how each sector of retail works. While studying at the FRA I was lucky enough to meet some really influential retailers. I came across the Future Talent team at Arcadia and being in close contact with them lead me to my job here at Miss Selfridge. I currently work on the Digital team, my day to day tasks include: making sure the site works, thinking of ways that we can make it more aesthetically pleasing to customers and how to improve their customer experience. I also build the all of the emails that go out to our customers. No two days are ever the same as we try to come up with new ideas daily for what we can do to the site. I work in a reasonably small team, although working within Digital is all about working with other teams such as ‘Design’, ‘Trade’ and ‘Marketing’, to ensure that the customer journey couldn’t be better. I really do love being at Miss Selfridge and I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the FRA!”

Jessica Sporle, L4 Garment Technology

Current role: Assistant Garment Technologist – Wallis

“I have been working at Wallis head office for over a year now since I graduated from the Fashion Retail Academy in July 2014. I thoroughly enjoy my job as an Assistant Garment Technologist! It allows me to work closely with the suppliers throughout all the departments as I get involved in numerous fit sessions where we assess the fit and quality of each garment before they can proceed to production and arrive in stores. As Garment Technologists we view the product commercially and advise ways to adapt designs to suit the production methods in the factory. I’m constantly learning new things in my job role and I look forward to developing within the company.”
