A Flexible Route To Becoming A Lawyer

A flexible route to becoming a lawyer

If you are looking for a flexible route to becoming a lawyer, the Chartered Institute of Legal Executive qualifications are flexible and affordable.

It offers a very different approach to studying Law than the traditional university route. Courses are designed to fit around you being able to work full time and study with The Law Academy on a part time basis.

Most students start at level 3 for the first 2 years, equivalent to A level standard study. Some students have already secured themselves a job in a legal environment but others work in other areas while studying at first before getting their “foot in the door”. Studying this way shows great commitment and self-motivation to any prospective employer.

The good thing about your level 3 stage of study is you will cover lots of different areas of law. This gives a good broad base of knowledge but also enables you to make a more informed decision about the subject you wish to study at the next, higher level.

The final 2 years are at Degree level (Level 6) and students choose specific subjects to specialise in at this stage.

Chartered Legal Executives are qualified Lawyers who specialise in a particular area of Law – this might be Family Law; Civil Litigation; Criminal Law – and many more options – the choice is yours.

Don’t be fooled into thinking this is the easy route to becoming a qualified lawyer, far from it. It is a route that requires determination and commitment to studying together with working full time.  It is however extremely rewarding as both elements of the qualification (academic study and qualifying employment) are essential. This route ensures you progress in both of these elements.

The Law Academy does not place you with an employer, we do have longstanding links with many employers and most students find themselves employment in the first couple of years if they are not in a legal field prior to commencing the courses.

The entry requirement is 5 GCSEs A – C including English Language. No previous Law qualifications are necessary. If you have however, already studied AS or A2 Law, you may be eligible for some exemptions when you start. We will advise you fully about this. Law degree students take a slightly different route as they join us after their degree for a Fast-track Diploma. This is achievable in one academic year if desired.

So if you think studying Law with a highly experienced and supportive provider – get in touch with The Law Academy Ltd.
